AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Authorities are investigating the deaths of a man and a woman whose bodies were found in a ditch in Central Texas.

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office says the bodies were found Sunday in southeastern Austin. The Austin American-Statesman reports (https://atxne.ws/1MGn4bZ ) that people walking to a nearby flea market called police after discovering the bodies.

Authorities are investigating the crash as a possible hit-and-run. They say the pair may have been walking when they were struck by a vehicle that knocked them into a ditch and then fled the scene.

Authorities were unable to say how long the bodies had been in the ditch. The identities of the victims have not been released.
