PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Police say a man attempting to steal $700 worth of goods sprayed bug spray in the faces of two grocery store employees who confronted him.

Authorities say 52-year-old Lawrence Howard Dorris also threatened to ignite the flammable liquid. After struggling over the cart with the two employees, authorities say Dorris eventually gave up and left the store.

The Oregonian reports (https://bit.ly/1SDCtix ) that the incident occurred Aug. 24 at a Portland Safeway store. He was arrested Oct. 29 and was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Multnomah County Circuit Court.

The indictment charges Dorris with two counts of first-degree robbery, and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon. He also is facing an unrelated allegation of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
