EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Eugene Police say a woman pushing a shopping cart was hit by a train but is expected to survive.

Police say the incident occurred Monday just after midnight. The woman was identified as 54-year-old Kathy Tekansik.

Authorities say the freight train operators honked the horn and applied the emergency breaks, but the woman did not appear to hear or respond.

She was taken to a hospital with injuries that are described as not life-threatening.
