BLACK ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas highway officials will be in Black Rock to dedicate a new bridge over the Black River.

The state highways director, a commissioner and local politicians are expected at Thursday’s dedication along U.S. 63 about 10 miles west of Walnut Ridge.

The dedication is set for 11 a.m.

The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department says the new bridge cost $40 million. The old bridge was built in 1949 and had been rated as structurally deficient. It was of a design similar to a bridge that collapsed in Minnesota in 2007.
