BEND, Ore. (AP) - Bend officials are hoping to get a better view of the city’s downtown parking with an updated study.

The Bend Bulletin reports (https://is.gd/m3RY5k ) the City Council in September awarded a Portland-based consultant more than $555,000 to conduct a review of downtown parking. The study will start in October and finish in winter 2017.

The study will examine how and when parking spaces fill up in garages, on main roads and in residential areas. The study will also look at ways to help traffic circulation, such as eliminating turning lanes and crossing areas.

Bend’s last parking study was completed in 2002. The city’s economic development director, Carolyn Eagan, says an updated version should have already been completed, but a lack of time and resources prevented a thorough review.
