BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A former Buffalo police officer has been sentenced to six months in prison for falsely claiming an on-duty injury and collecting pay while working another job.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 54-year-old Patrick O’Mara also must pay the city $104,000 in restitution following his sentencing in federal court on Wednesday.

Prosecutors say O’Mara spent seven years on Injured-On-Duty status after claiming he hurt his arm lifting two reams of paper. While telling authorities he could not perform even light desk duty, investigators say he was working as a paid musical director and church organist.
