MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Former Alabama Gov. Fob James is suing one of his sons claiming fraud in the family’s landfill business in southwestern Alabama.

The Montgomery Advertiser (https://on.mgmadv.com/1ML3dLs ) reports the 81-year-old James and his wife sued son Patrick James over the family-owned Escambia County Environmental Corp.

The suit accuses Patrick James of wrongdoing while he acted as president of the company.

The lawsuit and attached documents claim that $150,000 from a $3.35 million loan to the company wound up in another firm. Court papers also claim Patrick James has taken $1.5 million from his parents.

Patrick James hasn’t responded to the lawsuit, but he denies any wrongdoing in an email that’s included with the complaint as an exhibit.

Fob James served two terms as governor, with his most recent ending in 1999.
