JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - A 39-year-old former Missouri school bus driver is facing federal charges accusing him of receiving and possessing child pornography.

Shawn Allen Swan of Eugene was charged in a two-count indictment unsealed on Thursday after his arrest and initial court appearance. Prosecutors say he was employed as a school bus driver by a contractor for the Jefferson City School District.

The indictment says Swan received and distributed child porn over the Internet in September 2013 and possessed child porn between September 2013 and April 30 of this year.

He will be represented by a public defender, but a spokesman for U.S. Attorney Tammy Dickinson says it’s unclear if that person has been appointed.

Swan is in federal custody pending a detention hearing next week.
