SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - A Keithville man is in jail facing 62 counts of forgery.

Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator said Thursday that 35-year-old Paul Casabonne is accused of forging checks on an account for Life Quest Medical Supply in Shreveport. The checks were stolen during a burglary of the business in 2014.

Casabonne was involved in a car crash on Sept. 24. During an investigation of the crash, 32 Life Quest checks were found in his car, many of which were made out to him with forged signatures. Further investigation determined that Casabonne had issued numerous forged checks in Shreveport and East Texas. The checks totaled more than $21,000.

Casabonne was booked Sept. 25 into the Caddo Correctional Center. It was unknown if he has an attorney who could comment on the case.
