LOS ANGELES (AP) - A prominent civil rights attorney known for suing the Los Angeles Unified School District on behalf of students who say they were sexually abused has been ordered to be jailed for contempt of court.

The Los Angeles Times reports (https://lat.ms/1iNwYRD ) that Luis Carrillo was ordered to spend the day in jail Wednesday after a judge found he interfered with the mental health examination of one of his clients. He was found to have willfully disobeyed a court order by attempting to limit the questioning done by a psychiatrist hired by the district to examine a 15-year-old girl.

A date has not been set for Carrillo to serve his one day in jail.
