SENECA, S.C. (AP) - Oconee County officials say a man has been found dead in his home near Seneca.

Coroner Karl Addis said in a statement that the fire was reported Wednesday afternoon. Addis says when the fire was put out, firefighters found the 36-year-old homeowner dead in a bedroom.

The man’s name has not been released.

Addis says the man had been shot in the head. Addis says there is no threat to the community. Sheriff’s deputies and the coroner’s office are investigating the death.

The Oconee County Fire Department and the State Law Enforcement Division are working to determine the cause of the fire.

An autopsy is planned.
