SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Seven nominees have been announced to fill the Utah Supreme Court vacancy left by Justice Jill Parrish, who was confirmed as a federal judge last month.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/1KT83DN ) that the Appellate Judicial Nominating Commission selected Utah Court of Appeals Judge Michele Christiansen, first assistant US attorney Diana Hagen, District Court Judge Ryan Harris, District Court Judge David Mortensen, Utah Court of Appeals Judge John Pearce, Snell and Wilmer LLP partner Amy Sorenson and Stoel Rives LLP partner David Jordan.

Comments about the nominees can be submitted to the commission’s chairman by email or by mail. All comments must be received by Oct. 12.

Gov. Gary Herbert will select one nominee who must be confirmed by the Utah Senate.
