ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A New York City man who authorities say battered an upstate woman with a crowbar in front of their six-year-old child has been sentenced to 15 years in state prison.

Albany County District Attorney David Soares’ office said Wednesday that 54-year-old Andreau Woods of Brooklyn will also get five years of post-release supervision.

The Times Union of Albany reports (https://bit.ly/1LSebjJ ) that Woods pleaded guilty in July to attempted first-degree assault, second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Authorities said Woods repeatedly beat the woman with a crowbar in December 2014, breaking her skull and causing two wrist fractures and a broken finger.
