SCARBOROUGH, Maine (AP) - Sun Life Financial is celebrating the opening of its first office in Maine.

U.S. President Dan Fishbein will deliver remarks before a guided tour Thursday evening in Scarborough.

A spokeswoman said are currently 70 jobs - a mix of new hires and job transfers from other Sun Life offices. Eventually, the number of workers could double.

The company says the idea behind the Maine office is to put the bulk of disability management operations under one roof. The company’s U.S. headquarters is in Wellesley, Massachusetts; it also has other offices in Windsor, Connecticut, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
