FOREST ACRES, S.C. (AP) - The latest on the shooting of a police officer at a South Carolina mall. All times local:

Police records show the man charged with murder in the killing of a police officer at a South Carolina mall had multiple weapons in his possession during two earlier arrests.

In August, Columbia police say 34-year-old Jarvis Hall was arrested for fleeing officers. They say he had a loaded 9-mm handgun, 40 rounds of ammunition and a 6-inch knife. During a 2004 arrest involving a prostitution charge, police say Hall had a 9-mm handgun, ammunition and a butcher knife.

Hall is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in the shooting Wednesday of Forest Acres Police officer Gregory Alia.

Arrest warrants say Alia was shot with a stolen .40 caliber handgun and Hall also had a knife in his possession.

The man charged with killing a police officer at a South Carolina mall has decided to waive his first appearance in court.

Richland County spokeswoman Stephanie Cameron said 34-year-old Jarvis Hall won’t be in court for his scheduled hearing Thursday.

Hall is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in the shooting Wednesday of Forest Acre Police officer Gregory Alia.

Cameron says she does not know if Hall has an attorney.

Also on Thursday, the State Law Enforcement Division announced there is no body camera or dashboard camera footage of the incident which started when Alia was investigating a report of a suspicious person at the Richland Fashion Mall.

Funeral arrangements have been made for a police officer who was shot and killed as he chased a suspect in a South Carolina mall.

Gregory Alia will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Columbia.

The 32-year-old Forest Acres officer died Wednesday while he struggled with a suspect at the Richland Mall before the mall’s stores opened.

Authorities say 34-year-old Jarvis Hall was arrested immediately and is charged with murder. He is set for a first appearance in court Thursday afternoon.

The wife of a young police officer slain in a mall shooting says her husband was a selfless community servant who loved being a policeman.

Wearing one of her husband’s uniform shirts, Kassy Alia appeared Thursday morning at the Forest Acres Police Department holding their 6-month-old son. She told reporters that she and Officer Gregory Alia’s family were grateful for the outpouring of support in the wake of his shooting death Wednesday.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has charged 34-year-old Jarvis Hall with the murder of the 32-year-old officer during an altercation at a mall. Forest Acres is a small residential community surrounded by the city of Columbia.

Hall is to appear at the Richland County Detention Center on Thursday afternoon.

More than $100,000 has been raised for the family in less than a day. Local residents have placed bouquets of flowers and notes on the slain officer’s patrol car, parked in front of the police headquarters.

The suspect in the fatal shooting of a South Carolina police officer is scheduled to appear before a magistrate as the tiny community the officer and young family man served mourns his passing.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has charged 34-year-old Jarvis Hall with murder in the death of 32-year-old Gregory Alia, an officer with the suburban Forest Acres Police. Alia was shot and killed Wednesday.

Hall is to appear at the Richland County Detention Center on Thursday. Court and jail records don’t indicate whether he has an attorney.

Forest Acres Police Chief Gene Sealy says employees of the small department are heartbroken. Friends and neighbors described Alia as a special man who had a singular touch as a police officer.
