NORWICH, N.Y. (AP) - A 49-year-old upstate New York man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the beating death of his former girlfriend.

In a plea deal, William Danielson of Oxford will receive 20 years to life in prison. All other charges are to be dropped.

Danielson was charged with murder of 39-year-old Lucinda Knoll, a mother of three sons. She was bludgeoned during a robbery at her home in the town of Norwich in 2013.

According to the Evening Sun of Norwich (https://bit.ly/1FFvRhD ), prosecutors allowed Danielson to admit to causing physical injury that resulted in Knoll’s death.

Danielson originally was going to plea to murder in the second degree with intent to kill, but he would not admit to having intent to kill.

Danielson’s trial was set to begin on Wednesday.
