SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Public transportation ridership set a new all-time record for the Utah Transit Authority.

More people took TRAX and FrontRunner trains during the week of Sept. 20 than any other time in the authority’s history.

Preliminary data shows there were almost 568,000 boardings from Sept. 20 to Saturday, Sept. 26.

UTA spokesman Remi Barron said downtown events drove commuter traffic. He said the authority added cars and ran trains more frequently to accommodate the added ridership.
