MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) - A woman is facing DUI and felony child endangerment charges after telling police her friend drove drunk with kids in the car.

The Missoulian reports (https://bit.ly/1hei1XB) the friend dropped her children off Wednesday with 26-year-old Ellen Elizabeth Mittlestadt, who, several hours later, told police the woman had been drunk.

Officers administered a breath test to the friend, who demanded one for Mittlestadt. It’s unclear whether the friend is facing charges.

Police say Mittlestadt blew a .209 blood alcohol level. Legal limits are often at .08.

Officers at the Missoula County jail say Mittlestadt acknowledged driving “safely” with her friend’s children.

This is her fourth DUI charge and second child endangerment charge. Prosecutors say she had arrived home and left the child in the vehicle before heading inside and passing out.
