TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The buzz of bees has closed a parking area for a popular system of hiking trails in Tucson.

The Northwest Fire District says firefighters were called around 11 a.m. Saturday to the Gates Pass hiking trails.

A female hiker reported a swarm of bees prevented her from getting to her vehicle.

Firefighters say they assisted the hiker but have been unable to find a hive.

The National Park Service is trying to determine the best course of action.

In the meantime, officials are advising people to avoid the area.

The lot is the main parking area for several hiking trails around the Gates Pass mountain area.

So far, authorities say there have been no reports of stings or other bee-related injuries.
