BOISE, Idaho (AP) - The number of people applying for a concealed weapon permit and buying firearms has doubled this month in the Treasure Valley.

KBOI-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1VLy50K) an employee at Impact Guns says they’ve noticed an upward trend in pistol and ammunition sales. They also have seen at least 150 new shooters at their range.

People in the Treasure Valley aren’t just buying more firearms, they’re also applying to carry them concealed.

The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office reports they have received 60 first-time concealed weapons permits since Oct. 1, the day of the Oregon college shooting.

Protection concerns have also increased interest in other self-defense sales, such as pepper spray.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office says they have not seen a rapid increase in concealed carry applications, however, there are already more than 26,000 active permits throughout the county.
