YATESBORO, Pa. (AP) - A coroner says a western Pennsylvania high school student who died after he was treated for a reported fall in a school gym class had a congenital heart problem and died of natural causes.
Armstrong County Coroner Brian Myers said Friday that 15-year-old Damian Campbell of Yatesboro had a congenital anomaly of the right coronary artery. .
Campbell died Sept. 21 after a friend reported seeing him slump to the floor. He had been treated earlier for an elbow and shoulder injury after a reported fall during gym class at West Shamokin High School. The school district is about 50 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
Myers said earlier that Campbell’s body showed no signs of “injury, struggle or trauma.” He said the fall had nothing to do with Campbell’s death.
