NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (AP) - A group of cowboys riding on horseback and accompanied by tracking dogs have rounded up a cow that’s been roving the Mohawk Valley for months.

The cowboys from Washington County contacted Utica police after word of the wandering cow spread through media reports. They cornered the brown-and-white bovine in woods near a Home Depot store in New Hartford Friday afternoon.

Police have been unable to track down the owner of the cow, which had been moseying around a busy area of stores and businesses in the Utica area since June.

The cowboys say they’ll look for a suitable home.
