LAS VEGAS (AP) - A woman who threatened to jump from the top of a downtown Las Vegas hotel rather than go to jail is back in police custody.

Streets around the Golden Nugget were closed Friday afternoon as Las Vegas police crisis negotiators spent nearly five hours talking with the woman.

Police say the woman was with a court bailiff and en route to Clark County Detention Center when she escaped around 1:55 p.m.

They say she went to the hotel’s parking garage and threatened to jump.

She surrendered to officers shortly after 6 p.m. and was taken to a hospital for injuries received as a result of a police dog bite.
