LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Prosecutors have charged a 63-year-old Lincoln man with felony child abuse after police say he beat a 12-year-old boy with a piece of wood and his fists.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports (https://bit.ly/1JZxZfa ) that Floyd Carman was arrested late Thursday after his wife reported the abuse. Carman was charged Friday.

Carman’s wife reported that she and her husband had been arguing Friday night when he turned on the boy.

Police say Carman pushed the boy into a bathroom, then hit him several times with a piece of door trim he pulled from the wall. Police say Carman then punched the boy four times in the face.

Police reported the boy had a black eye and other bruises.

Carman remained jailed Saturday and could not be reached for comment.
