SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Scottsdale police say a man was shot while drunkenly trying to enter the wrong apartment.

Police spokesman Kevin Watts says the shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m. Saturday at the Scottsdale Shadows Complex near 87th Street and Camelback Road.

According to investigators, the man was staying with a resident there and had just come back from a night of drinking.

They say the man tried to use his key to open another unit.

They say a woman in that unit became fearful and told the man through the door to leave.

When he continued to try to enter, she allegedly shot through the door.

The man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was treated at a hospital.

Watts says it’s not clear if either party will face charges.
