WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - New Castle County paramedics are helping collect food for the homeless.

This weekend, three paramedic stations are collecting items. Paramedics are asking for canned foods including meats, vegetables and fruits as well as soups, stews and beans. They’re also asking for boxed items including macaroni and cheese, Hamburger Helper, mashed potatoes and stuffing mixes.

Paramedics stationed at the Cranston Heights Fire Company and the Brandywine Hundred Fire Company in Wilmington are collecting items as are paramedics at a station in Newark on Glasgow Avenue.

Paramedics will be collecting the items from 9 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The food will be donated to the Sunday Breakfast Mission, a shelter in Wilmington that provides meals to the homeless as well as boxes of food to needy families.
