OCALA, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a sheriff’s K-9 dog was left unattended and bit his handler’s 7-year-old son.

The Marion County sheriff’s reports Corporal Alan Lee’s dog Zeus bit his son on September 29 while the boy was in the backyard playing with two other children. The dog was left unattended and was not secured. According to a report, the victim’s son was in a loft area of a barn yelling at the other children when the dog went upstairs and bit him.

The child had wounds on his neck, arms and back. The Ocala Star-Banner (https://tinyurl.com/q7keu62) reported Friday that he received about three dozen stitches and was released.

Lee’s supervisor warned him about the importance of never leaving the dog unsupervised.
