SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - Police are investigating after a 22-year-old man was stabbed several times in upstate New York.

The Saratoga Springs Police Department says the man was attacked just after 4 a.m. Saturday on a street in downtown Saratoga Springs.

Police said the victim was stabbed between six and seven times in the back, puncturing both of his lungs.

The man, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to Albany Medical Center. Police did not provide any information about his condition.

Investigators said they believe the victim knew his attacker.

But they say their investigation “has been hampered” because neither the victim nor witnesses would cooperate.

Police are continuing to investigate. No arrests have been made in the case.
