TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Power has been restored to thousands of utility customers who lost their service when severe storms roared through New Jersey.

The fast-moving storms that socked the state on Friday night contained heavy rains, strong winds and frequent lightning. That led to trees and power lines being knocked down, spurring outages that affected all areas of the state.

At the height of the storms, more than 10,000 utility customers were without service. But most had their power restored by late Friday night.

Authorities say the storms didn’t cause any major flooding or travel problems, and no weather-related injuries were reported.
