NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A candidate for the state House of Representatives remains on the Oct. 24 ballot now that the state Supreme Court has turned back a challenge to his candidacy.

Louisiana’s Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal had reversed a district court ruling and dismissed a challenge lodged against Ray Crawford, running for the House in District 99 in New Orleans. A Supreme Court news release Friday says an appeal to the high court was denied.

Two people had filed a challenge saying Crawford failed to file a 2012 tax return and a judge ruled in their favor. But the 4th Circuit reversed the ruling and dismissed the appeal on procedural issues. Those issues stemmed from a mistake in the original challenge: The candidate was misidentified as Raymond instead of Ray Crawford.
