PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island’s General Treasurer is offering an incentive to Rhode Islanders who open a college savings plan this month.

Seth Magaziner says families that open a CollegeBoundfund account by Oct. 31 will receive a $25 contribution to celebrate National Financial Planning Month.

Magaziner says he hopes the incentive will encourage families to start saving for their children’s future.

CollegeBoundfund is Rhode Island’s college savings plan. It’s designed to encourage families to save for higher education expenses at accredited colleges, universities and vocational or trade schools.
