TEMECULA, Calif. (AP) - Riverside County authorities say a woman apparently shot by a sheriff’s deputy during a standoff at a rural home was later found dead inside.

The Press-Enterprise newspaper says(https://bit.ly/1GBqRWj) the ordeal began Friday morning when deputies responded to reports of an armed woman threatening people at a residence in Idyllwild.

By the time deputies arrived the woman had fled. Deputies eventually found her about 30 miles away in the Aguanga area, where officials say she refused orders to drop her handgun.

Officials say when she pointed the gun at a deputy, the deputy opened fire. The woman retreated inside and a SWAT team later found her body.

Her name was not released.
