CHARLEVOIX, Mich. (AP) - A 30-year-old woman has been charged after two people were shot at while picking apples in northern Michigan.

MLive.com reports (https://bit.ly/1VKMqdK ) that 30-year-old Shawn Beeler was arraigned Sept. 29 in Charlevoix District Court on felonious assault and gun charges.

State Natural Resources Capt. Wade Hamilton says 37-year-old Donald Smith and 25-year-old Stacey Smith, both of Boyne Falls, were picking apples Sept. 15 from branches extending beyond a fence.

After a woman told them the apples were on private property, the Smiths dumped the apples they had picked and began picking from a tree outside the fence. They then were shot at. No one was hit.

Beeler of Boyne Falls faces an Oct. 20 preliminary examination.

The Associated Press was unable Saturday to find a telephone listing for Beeler.
