PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Department of Public Safety has arrested three suspects for allegedly opening fire on a freeway but say the incidents are not connected to a recent string of shootings.

DPS says the agency received reports of a shooting on Interstate 10 around 2:10 a.m. Sunday.

A witness says a passenger of a black sedan fired at least one shot from a handgun out the window.

State troopers say another shooting involving a black sedan on I-10 was reported shortly after.

A Phoenix police helicopter pursued a matching vehicle, leading to a suspect’s apprehension in an apartment complex.

Officers arrested two others.

They also seized a bullet from a victim’s vehicle as evidence.

Officials say there is no link to the shootings that occurred between Aug. 22 and Sept. 10.
