JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Craighead County Sheriff Marty Boyd says an inmate in the county jail has died after being found unresponsive in the jail.

Boyd says 42-year-old William Chad Hardin was pronounced dead Saturday at a hospital where he was taken after being found shortly before midnight Friday.

Boyd says the death is under investigation, but declined to say whether foul play is suspected. He said the body will be sent to the state medical examiner’s office in Little Rock to determine the cause of death.

Hardin had been arrested Friday by Jonesboro police during a traffic stop. He was wanted for parole violations and faced charges of contempt of court and nonpayment of fines.
