BARTOW, Fla. (AP) - A Florida man has qualified to sing at the Karaoke World Championship in Singapore.

Jeff Edwards, 28, began singing in the choir when he was 7-years old at the Plant City church where his grandfather was a pastor for 40 years.

The Ledger of Lakeland (https://tinyurl.com/py85m93 ) reports Edwards was feeling a little under the weather when he competed at the national competition last month in Arkansas, but he still nabbed first place in the male division.

Edwards says he will probably sing some of his standards at the word event: “Open Arms” by Journey, “I Who Have Nothing” by Tom Jones, “I Look to You” by Whitney Houston and “Feeling Good” by Michael Bublé.
