POTTSTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a chemical odor prompted authorities investigating a death in an eastern Pennsylvania home to call for a hazardous materials unit.

Crews in Montgomery County were called to a Lower Pottsgrove Township home shortly before noon Sunday after a deceased person was reported.

Authorities reported a strong chemical odor and evacuated the home, and a county public safety hazardous materials team called to investigate.

The (Pottstown) Mercury (https://bit.ly/1NzSnez ) reports that a preliminary investigation indicated that the odor was from a hydrocarbon-based substance.

Fire crews used fans to vent the home, and police and the coroner then entered to investigate the death.

Officials said the cause and manner of the person’s death remains under investigation.
