FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - Hundreds of people have been evacuated from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport after a contractor cut a sprinkler line and set off fire alarms.

The Miami Herald (https://tinyurl.com/qhasjar) reports passengers in terminal three fled onto the tarmac to avoid getting wet from the sprinklers Saturday afternoon. Passengers said they were told to get as far from the building as possible as airport officials direct them away from the building.

A telephone message left by The Associated Press was not immediately returned Saturday.
