NEW YORK (AP) - A man visiting from Delaware and five other people were injured in a fire that swept through the second floor of a six-story building on Staten Island.

The Sunday night blaze was brought under control 40 minutes after it erupted at the Brabant street apartment building.

The Staten Island Advance (https://bit.ly/1WWurUk ) says 37-year-old Caleb Wilder was spending time with friends on Staten Island.

Firefighters found him unconscious and unresponsive when they arrived on the scene shortly before midnight. Wilder was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Fire officials say the others suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
