OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a 29-year-old Northern California man who crashed his car during a police chase and left behind his injured 6-year-old daughter has surrendered.

The Oakland Tribune reports (https://bayareane.ws/1LJCEJK ) Monday that Kelvin Govan surrendered Sunday after police received tips from community members.

An arrest warrant had been issued for Govan after he refused to stop for police last Thursday near the San Leandro-Oakland border.

After crashing his car, Govan escaped by running through yards.

A man in his car was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest.

Govan’s daughter was taken to a hospital with a head wound that required surgery. She is expected to recover.

It was not immediately known Monday what charges Govan now faces.
