LOS ANGELES (AP) - A thoroughbred horse that fell about 60 feet down a ravine in the Hollywood Hills has been airlifted to safety.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott says the horse was on a narrow trail in Griffith Park Sunday when it may have lost footing and fell.

Scott said a team of 30 firefighters worked with park rangers, animal and Urban Search and Rescue specialists to hoist the more than 1200-pound horse.

The horse was sedated before going airborne and was taken to a nearby stable for care of superficial wounds.
