THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - Lafourche Parish is seeking public input on workforce housing needs in the parish.

Jeffery Leuenberger, a senior planner with the parish, tells The Daily Comet (https://bit.ly/1R6Q14G) its study will review the parish’s housing stock and determine the need for more temporary and permanent housing, as well as transportation and infrastructure to accommodate additional housing.

Leuenberger says a parish committee and consulting team are particularly interested in learning strategies to accommodate the employment base in south Lafourche where the dynamics of temporary housing has contributed to higher housing prices.

Historically, about 20 percent of the employment base is from outside of southeast Louisiana, but the number can change depending on demand from local industries.
