WEST ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a woman riding behind her husband on a motorcycle was killed when he lost control of the bike on Long Island.

Suffolk County police say Michael Proctor of Bay Shore was charged with DWI.

Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/1MrxVv5 ) says the couple recently moved back to Long Island from North Carolina and celebrated their two-year wedding anniversary.

Police say the 26-year-old Proctor was riding his 2000 Kawasaki early Sunday when he lost control at the Robert Moses Causeway exist in West Islip.

His 26-year-old wife, Megan, died at a hospital.

Michael Proctor is an Army combat veteran. His wife attended a culinary school and dreamed of one day opening her own restaurant.

It wasn’t clear if Proctor had a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
