FAIRFIELD, Ohio (AP) - The northern Cincinnati suburb of Fairfield is celebrating its 60th birthday this month by hosting a series of events for residents to celebrate the milestone.

The Hamilton-Middletown Journal-News reports (https://bit.ly/1hsjRUX ) the festivities will kick off Oct. 14 with a series of historical displays featured at the Community Arts Center’s gallery.

Community events coordinator Ben Strickler says this year’s celebration will focus mostly on the decade that Fairfield was born in.

The town’s Community Room will feature a band playing hits of the 1950s and 1960s on Oct. 16. The space will be decked out 50s-style and will have food at 50s prices.

Fairfield’s official incorporation date is Oct. 20, and the town will be hosting a reception as well as a first-day cover stamp cancellation event.
