UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) - Authorities say a body found at a park in Prince George’s County is presumed to be that of an 80-year-old man who went missing last month.

Maryland-National Capital Park Police said Sunday that a body of a man presumed to be Lubin Phipps was found during a search of Watkins Regional Park in Upper Marlboro. Police say the body was found in an area not regularly traveled.

Police say Phipps, who had dementia, was reported missing on Sept. 18 while he attended a picnic. Police say there was an extensive search of the park and adjacent properties that day and more searches in the weeks afterward.

Police say the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

County police are now handling the investigation.
