MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A 26-year-old woman is accused of leaving her 3-year-old daughter in a locked SUV in a Madison casino parking lot while she gambled.

The incident happened Saturday night at Ho-Chunk Gaming Madison.

According to the police report, a patron contacted casino security and reported seeing the toddler inside the vehicle, “bawling her eyes out.”

After police and firefighters arrived, a door to the vehicle was forced open and the child was placed in a squad car while her mother was paged.

The Wisconsin State Journal (https://bit.ly/1G2noFq ) reports the woman told officers she was gone for 15 minutes. But police said a witness told them the child was alone for about an hour.

The woman was arrested, and the child was picked up by a trusted adult and taken home.
