CHICAGO (AP) - Two Illinois hospital organizations with plans to merge have decided on a name, a chief executive and long-term goals.

The Illinois Hospital Association and the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council announced Monday that their merger begins in January. The entity’s formal name will be Illinois Health and Hospital Association. It will be known by the brand name IHA.

Illinois Hospital Association CEO Maryjane Wurth will lead IHA. Dan Yunker of MCHC will be an executive vice president, and president and CEO of the Midwest Healthcare Institute, a regional entity that will offer innovative solutions to hospitals and health care organizations.

A new board will be announced in the coming months. The group’s long-term goals will include helping hospitals improve performance and advocating for reform of health care delivery in Illinois.
