RESTON, Va. (AP) - Fairfax County fire officials say two people have serious injuries after a fire broke out at a Reston townhouse.

Spokesman Capt. Willie Bailey says firefighters called to the home in the 12000 block of Purple Sage Court around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday found fire coming from the front of the home.

Bailey tells The Washington Post (https://wapo.st/1jmWIVO) that a man and woman in their mid-20s were rescued and flown to a hospital with serious injuries. He says one went into cardiac arrest, but was revived.

Bailey says two dogs and two cats died, but a parrot survived.
