CONWAY, Ark. (AP) - Two teenagers charged in connection with the shooting deaths of one of their friend’s grandparents have pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors charged Connor Atchley and Anastasia Roberts with first-degree murder last month. Court documents had previously listed his name as Conner. The teens appeared at separate hearings in Faulkner County Circuit Court Tuesday.

Investigators allege the teens were present when Robert and Patricia Cogdell were fatally shot in their Conway home in July.

Prosecutors charged 14-year-old Justin Staton, whom the couple raised as their grandson, and his friend, 18-year-old Hunter Drexler, with capital murder. Investigators allege they robbed and shot the couple, then dumped their bodies in a wooded area nearby.

Staton’s mother, Michelle Staton, and maternal grandfather, Randal Eugene Staton, also pleaded not guilty to hindering apprehension charges Tuesday.

This version of the story corrects the spelling of Connor Atchley’s name. Court and police documents have identified him as Conner.
