JACKSON, Ga. (AP) - The body of an Air Force airman who died in Afghanistan is back in her hometown in Georgia.

Law enforcement officers escorted the body of 21-year-old Kcey Ruiz from an airport to her family’s hometown of Jackson on Tuesday afternoon. Community members stood with U.S. flags along the roadside.

A funeral for Ruiz is set for Friday.

The Defense Department says Ruiz was among five service members killed with a C-130J Super Hercules crashed right after taking off from Jalalabad on Oct. 2.

Ruiz enlisted in the Air Force shortly after graduating from high school in Henry County in 2012. Father Michael Ruiz says his daughter always did the right thing.

Investigators are still trying to determine why the airplane crashed.
